The NFL world was shocked when the Cleveland Browns selected Dillon Gabriel in the third Round of the 2025 NFL Draft before Shedeur Sanders went off the board. Then, the Browns also decided to draft Sanders in the fifth round of the draft. Both join a crowded and messy quarterback room in Cleveland. Will Gabriel get a chance to start, and what is Dillon Gabriel’s dynasty outlook?
Dynasty Outlook for Dillon Gabriel
Cleveland Browns quarterback Dillon Gabriel (5) leads a huddle during NFL rookie minicamp at the Cleveland Browns training facility on Friday, May 9, 2025, in Berea, Ohio.
Current Production
Gabriel had an outstanding collegiate career, playing six seasons: three at UCF, two at Oklahoma, and one at Oregon. He threw for a FBS record 155 passing touchdowns in his career. In the five seasons that he played at least 10 games in, he had at least 3,000 passing yards and 25 passing touchdowns in each season.
He led the Ducks to an undefeated regular season and a Big Ten Conference Championship before losing to Ohio State in the College Football Playoff Quarterfinals at the Rose Bowl. He finished third in the Heisman Voting in 2024.
Gabriel came into this year’s draft class with a lot of experience. Gabriel is 24 years old, but Sanders and Will Howard are both 23, while Tyler Shough is 25. It was a very old and experienced quarterback class in 2025.

Gabriel Dynasty Price
According to KeepTradeCut, a website that crowdsources dynasty values from players who use the site, Gabriel is the QB38. He was the QB50 before the draft, but skyrocketed due to his high draft selection by the Browns. He is currently ranked behind Joe Milton, Will Howard, and Aaron Rodgers while ranked ahead of Kirk Cousins, Spencer Rattler, and Quinn Ewers.
Gabriel is the seventh quarterback drafted in 2025 rookie dynasty drafts, behind Cam Ward, Jaxson Dart, Jalen Milroe, Shough, Sanders, and Howard. He is being drafted in the late third round or going undrafted.
Gabriel Dynasty Outlook
Gabriel joins the messiest quarterback room in the NFL. Deshaun Watson is expected to miss most, if not all, of the 2025 season. The quarterback room consists of Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Shedeur Sanders, and Gabriel. Any four of these guys can win the starting job. However, most teams do not carry four quarterbacks on the roster, so any of them could be cut or traded away.
Gabriel was drafted ahead of Sanders, meaning he should be in line to get more reps than his counterpart. However, Sanders is the more talented player, but he was just pulled over for speeding, which creates more drama and uncertainty.
Long term, Flacco is not the quarterback of the future, as he is 40 years old. It is unlikely that he will play past this season. Pickett was not great in his two seasons as a starter in Pittsburgh. However, both will probably get starts this season. If Watson comes back next year, where is the playing time for Gabriel?
Should You Draft Dillon Gabriel in Dynasty Leagues?
Gabriel is not the most talented quarterback on the Browns, and the offense is not that great to begin with. I am avoiding Gabriel in dynasty leagues as he does not have a path to significant playing time in the NFL. I am using my late-round rookie dynasty draft picks on players with higher upside, such as Isaac TeSlaa or Pat Bryant.
