Man Utd star Alejandro Garnacho looks set for an Old Trafford exit

Alejandro Garnacho continues to make headlines amid his much-talked-about future at Manchester United.

The Manchester Evening News understands Garnacho could be sold this summer if a suitable offer comes in. But, while that transfer stance is by no means a final marker, his latest stunt on social media might ultimately cost him one last shot at fulfilling his biggest United wish.

Garnacho's stock at Old Trafford has risen and fallen just as quickly over the last few years.

After helping the club pick up yet another FA Youth Cup, in 2022, the Madrid-born Argentina forward was thrust into the first-team and quickly billed as the next big hope in times of turmoil.

However, after showing his support for Marcus Rashford with a controversial post on social media - with the Argentine spotted wearing an Aston Villa shirt with 'Rashford 9' printed on the back - he may never pull on the shirt he really wanted all along.

During his first steps in professional football, Garnacho wore No.75 for United - with quick-fire upgrades to No.49 and No.17 coming in consecutive seasons.

All the while, he was being considered for the most iconic shirt of them all at Old Trafford - the No.7 worn by countless greats from years-gone-by.

Included in that esteemed list is, of course, Garnacho's footballing idol - Cristiano Ronaldo - who wore No.7 in his two spells with the Premier League giants.

However, while that topic was discussed internally two years ago, the decision was made to make then-new signing Mason Mount the club's next No.7 post-Ronaldo.

Garnacho's time, it was thought, was to come. Now, 24 months on, his time at United could be up, putting a clear end to one of his biggest targets.
