Report: Everton striker Beto is now wanted by the fifth best supported team in the world

Beto has endured a really up-and-down two-year spell at Everton.

When Everton paid £30m for Beto during the summer of 2023, he arrived with great fanfare after a productive season with Udinese.

However, his debut season on Merseyside was a real struggle, as he struck just three goals in the Premier League.

It was a similar tale last term until David Moyes joined in January, and that’s when Beto really started to find his feet.

The towering frontman ended the season with 12 goals across all competitions and is now attracting interest from a number of clubs.

Leeds United are keeping tabs on Beto, and now one of the best-supported teams on the planet is trying to land his signature.

Fenerbahce want to sign Everton striker Beto

Everton want to sign two strikers this summer, which has thrown Beto’s future on Merseyside into major doubt.

And, it’s understood that the Toffees would sanction Beto’s sale for around £21m, with Fenerbahce now showing a serious interest.

That’s according to Turkish outlet Sporx, who state that the club president Devin Ozek has contacted Beto’s camp.

Manager Jose Mourinho wants to sign the 27-year-old on loan with an option to buy, although, that proposal is likely to be rejected.

Fenerbahce, who are the fifth best supported team in the world (as per Bleacher Report), are in desperate need of a striker with Edin Dzeko set to leave on a free transfer.

Everton should keep Beto

Indeed, there is no doubt Everton need to bring in a top-class centre-forward this window, but that shouldn’t affect Beto’s future.

The Guinea-Bissau international has shown that he can be prolific with the right service, and it’d be a real shame to prevent him from developing even further on Merseyside.

Chris Sutton even said Beto looked like a £60m player last term, amplifying just how much he’s come on since joining two years ago.

“Fair play to Beto, though,” Sutton said in April. “There was a lot of pressure on his shoulders with a new manager coming in, and the team not scoring, but the run he has gone on (five goals in nine league games under Moyes) is just fantastic – at any other club he’d be a £60m striker!”
