Sources: Brentford in advanced talks to appoint Thomas Frank replacement

Brentford are closing in on appointing Keith Andrews as their new manager, GMS understands. The Irishman is in advanced talks over stepping up from set-piece coach to replace new Tottenham Hotspur head coach Thomas Frank in the Gtech Community Stadium hot-seat.

The 44-year-old was appointed to Bees' coaching staff in July 2024, having also worked at Sheffield United as an assistant, but he has never had a managerial role. Andrews was the assistant manager to Stephen Kenny for the Republic of Ireland national team as well.

Brentford are finalising Frank’s replacement following a thorough process. They have also considered Ange Postecoglou - who was sacked by Tottenham earlier this month - Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna, Burnley chief Scott Parker and ex-Ajax head coach Francesco Farioli, but Andrews has emerged as the clear frontrunner.

Fellow former Republic of Ireland international Damien Duff is an option to join Andrews’ backroom staff, should a deal be finalised, after recently leaving his position as Shelbourne boss.
