Aston Villa manager Unai Emery has reportedly urged Monchi to complete a deal to sign Real Betis winger Jesus Rodriguez, according to ABC Sevilla.
Villa missed out on Champions League qualification during the 2024/2025 season, which means they're going to have to be clever in the transfer market. The Midlands outfit will be receiving less money after competing in the competition last term, while it could be a little more difficult to attract the level of player they will have been hoping for.
Emery's side will be involved in the Europa League for the 2025/2026 campaign, and they'll be looking to bring in new additions to help them qualify for Europe's elite club competition once again. Villa undoubtedly already have a squad capable of finishing in the top four, but they will have to replace Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio, who were only on loan during the second half of the season.

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano previously reported that the Villans had opened talks to sign Rodriguez after making contact to open discussions. Romano also confirmed that Rodriguez is on the shortlist of multiple clubs for the summer transfer window.
Rodriguez, described as 'extraordinary' by FootBoom, didn't play an awful lot for Betis during the 2024/2025 campaign, but at the age of 19, he's a player with plenty of potential. The tricky winger is currently at the U21 European Championships with Spain, and there's no doubt Villa will be keeping an eye on his progress throughout the tournament.
