Leeds United could have the best opportunity to sign a new goalkeeper this summer. After the events of last season, it was inevitable that a major change would happen.
Illan Meslier’s series of errors during the tail end of the season were finally enough for Daniel Farke. The Leeds United boss benched the Frenchman and made Karl Darlow the number one of the last seven games. The decision eventually paid off when the Whites lifted the league title on the final day.

When the transfer window opened, one of the first reports to come out of Elland Road was about Meslier. The news claimed that Leeds had offered him to multiple clubs in a bid to sell him. The Whites had not yet approached a first choice target, but had an eye on a few keepers.
Newcastle’s Nick Pope was a major target. Unfortunately the only way the 33-year old would leave was if the Magpies replaced him. And now, according to reports, a move for Pope to Leeds could be back on. Florian Plettenburg has reported that Burnley have agreed a deal to sign German keeper Max Weiss.
Weiss is expected to replace James Trafford, who could now be off to Newcastle. This opens the door for Nick Pope to join Leeds. But first, Meslier must make way, and according to Football365, Fenerbahce have been linked with a move for the Frenchman.
A chain of events could lead to the club finally signing a new goalkeeper this summer.
Nick Pope could arrive at Elland Road
If Nick Pope does eventually move to Leeds United, the club would have one of the best keepers in the country. Pope has been a solid starter for the Magpies these past few seasons.

He is still in his prime, has great awareness off his line and is a solid shot stopper. Pope’s ability in contesting aerial balls could come in handy this season.
