Analyst Predicts Browns QB Struggles Continue

The Cleveland Browns spent a ton of draft capital on quarterbacks this offseason.

The team used a third-round pick on Oregon's Dillon Gabriel, a fifth-round pick on Colorado's Shedeur Sanders, and another fifth-round pick in a trade for Kenny Pickett.

That's a lot of quarterbacks in one draft and offseason.

But if Pro Football Network's Jacob Infante is correct, none of them will pan out and the Browns could be looking for a quarterback again next offseason.

"Cade Klubnik made considerable strides in 2024. He’s an accurate passer with good poise in the pocket and underrated mobility," Infante wrote in his 2026 mock draft. "His consistency, rhythm, and decision-making all give him a high floor and project him as a potential long-term starter in the NFL. Although the Cleveland Browns drafted Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders in 2025, neither came with the kind of draft capital that typically signals a long-term commitment.

"If Cleveland finishes with the league’s worst record, they’d be smart to take a swing at a true franchise QB."

If that turns out to be true, it'll probably cost both general manager Andrew Berry and head coach Kevin Stefaniak their jobs, and would make the 2025 NFL Draft one of the worst in NFL history for Cleveland.

After a 3-14 finish in 2024, the Browns need a resurgent season. And with four quarterbacks to choose from this offseason, it's hard to imagine that one of the four won't hit.

Joe Flacco is 40 years old and isn't a long-term solution, but could suffice as a stopgap until either Gabriel or Sanders figures things out. If neither one of them hits, it'll be a massive disappointment for the team and the fanbase.
