Pacers Star Tyrese Haliburton Suffered Torn Achilles in NBA Finals Game 7

Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton has now gotten confirmation of a torn Achilles. Haliburton suffered the injury during Game 7 of the NBA Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

NBA insider Shams Charania of ESPN reported the news on social media.

"Breaking: Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton sustained a torn right Achilles tendon in Game 7 against Oklahoma City, sources tell ESPN. Haliburton played through a calf strain in the same leg during the NBA Finals for an opportunity to win a championship."

Haliburton left Game 7 following a non-contact injury in the first quarter. The Pacers' star went down and immediately screamed in pain.

It was tough to see for everyone, and the Pacers couldn't recover following him leaving the court. Indiana made things interesting through the first half without the star guard, but after halftime, the Thunder ran away with the game.

Haliburton put together one of the best runs in playoff history, hitting multiple game-winning shots. The entire Pacers team looked to him for leadership throughout the playoffs, and they couldn't pick up the slack without him.

The star guard averaged 17.3 points, 8.6 assists and 5.3 rebounds in 23 games in the 2025 playoffs. Haliburton now has a massive injury recovery ahead of him this offseason.

Indiana will now head into the offseason with the reality that it will miss the majority of next season. Haliburton could always miss the entire year to allow himself to fully heal, but that all remains to be seen.

The Pacers have to make a decision on star center Myles Turner and others across the roster. Turner is scheduled to be a free agent, but many reports have him returning to the team this summer.

But with Haliburton now out for a long time, it could impact how the front office plays things this offseason. Indiana will likely need to go into the luxury tax to keep the core group together, but whether they actually allow it to happen remains one of the bigger mysteries.
