INDIANAPOLIS (WNDU) - Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton suffered a torn right Achilles tendon in Game 7 of the NBA Finals on Sunday night and is now evaluating surgical options, according to a new report from ESPN.
Haliburton suffered the injury just past the halfway point of the first quarter, and the seriousness of the injury was apparent from the moment he went down on the court.
He immediately began slapping the court in frustration as virtually the entire Pacers team surrounded him. He was eventually helped to the locker room without putting weight on his right foot.
Haliburton played through a calf strain in Games 5 and 6 of the NBA Finals and had nine points — all on 3-pointers — in Game 7 against the Oklahoma City Thunder prior to the injury. The Thunder would go on to win Game 7 and clinch the NBA championship after surging in the second half against a Pacers squad that was forced to play the remainder of the game without one of its key players.
There’s currently no timetable for Haliburton’s return to court, but he is expected to be out for a while. According to the IndyStar, such injuries typically require a recovery time of at least 8-10 months, so it wouldn’t be all that surprising if he were to miss the entire 2025-26 season.
