Manchester United have opted to take up a one-year extension option on the contract of highly-rated young forward Keira Barry.
The Red Devils announced the news via a post on their official club website this evening.
The 20-year-old was set to be out of contract at the Leigh Sports Village at the end of this month but she will now remain with Manchester United for another year.
Barry has just completed a decade of service with Manchester United after joining the club’s academy system as a 10-year-old. The youngster successfully negotiated her way through the age groups all the way to the senior team. Barry went on to make her long-awaited senior debut for The Red Devils in a Subway Women’s League Cup group stage fixture against Sheffield United in December 2022. The player was rewarded with her first professional contract the following summer.
The midfielder joined Crystal Palace on a season-long loan deal in 2023/2024 but her progress was hindered by long-term injury. She did manage to net her first senior goal during her time in South London.
Barry spent this season back at Manchester United, however, she has again been frustrated by injury. The player is now back to fitness and will be hoping to make her mark next season.
