Marcia Lewis, mother and agent of Arsenal sensation Myles Lewis-Skelly, has moved to quash speculation linking her son with a summer move to Real Madrid, insisting the teenager is happy at the Emirates and focused on his future with the Gunners.

The 18-year-old enjoyed a breakout 2024/25 campaign, establishing himself as a key player in Mikel Arteta’s side and drawing the attention of European giants. However, speaking toThe Guardian, Lewis described the transfer rumours as “just rumours” and reaffirmed her son’s commitment to Arsenal.

“Rumours are rumours, aren’t they?” she said. “Everyone will always have something to say, that’s fine. We don’t engage in all of that. Myles is enjoying his football, and that’s the most important thing.”

Lewis-Skelly is reportedly close to signing a new long-term contract with Arsenal, ending suggestions that he could leave the club as a free agent in 2026. Real Madrid had been monitoring the situation closely, with The Guardian reporting in May that the Spanish champions were exploring the possibility of repeating their recent coup for Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is set to join them on a free transfer next summer.

Speculation was fuelled by claims of stalled contract talks between Arsenal and Lewis-Skelly’s camp, but those fears have since eased. Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that negotiations led by new sporting director Andrea Berta are progressing well, with Arsenal “very calm and relaxed” about securing a deal that would make Lewis-Skelly one of the highest-paid teenagers in world football.

The England international, who transitioned from midfield to left-back this season, made 39 appearances for Arsenal in 2024/25, including 23 in the Premier League. His performances in the Champions League especially during Arsenal’s emphatic 5-1 aggregate victory over Real Madrid in the quarter-finals reportedly caught the eye of incoming Madrid manager Xabi Alonso.

Lewis-Skelly also made history on the international stage, becoming the youngest player to score on his England debut in a 2-0 win over Albania in March.

Marcia Lewis, who holds a master’s degree in football business, has played a central role in managing her son’s rise. She is also the founder of No1Fan.club, a support initiative for parents of academy players, which is set to be incorporated into the Premier League’s life skills programme next season. Her workshops, including “Finding the Right Agent,” aim to empower parents navigating the complexities of youth football.

According to The Athletic, Lewis was instrumental in negotiating her son’s new deal with Arsenal, using her knowledge and experience to ensure that the club’s ambitions aligned with Lewis-Skelly’s development path.

Real Madrid’s hopes of prising Lewis-Skelly away from north London now appear to be fading. Reports suggest Arsenal’s swift contract response has “poured cold water” on Madrid’s interest, with sources close to the player stating that he is “the future of Arsenal Football Club.”

Manager Mikel Arteta has previously described Lewis-Skelly as a “generational talent” and praised the youngster’s “special charisma,” underlining the club’s long-term belief in the Hale End graduate.
