Suns Plan For Jalen Green Revealed Following Kevin Durant Trade

The Phoenix Suns and Houston Rockets agreed to a massive trade over the weekend, sending star Kevin Durant to Houston. In return for the former league MVP, the Suns landed guard Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, the No. 10 pick in the 2024 draft, and five second-round picks.

With Durant now heading to the Rockets, Houston jsut became that much more formidable in the Western Conference. This past season, the Rockets clinched the No. 2 seed in the West but fell in the first round of the playoffs.

Adding a talent like Durant should help things, and could see the Rockets get over the hump next season. Durant had reportedly preferred to go back to Texas, and he now gets his wish.

But for the Suns, this was about as good a deal as they were going to get for the aging star. Due to his age, Phoenix was somewhat limited in what they could ask for.

However, adding Green and the other pieces does give the Suns something to build around. After the trade, there has been some thought to Phoenix flipping Green due to his weird fit next to guard Devin Booker in the backcourt.

But Suns insider John Gamadoro pushed back on this idea. According to him, Phoenix has no plans to deal Green and he will play alongside Booker next season.
