Can Patriots Have Winning Season? Former Linebacker Weighs In

The New England Patriots haven’t had a winning season since 2021, when they finished 10-7.

During the 2024-25 season, the Patriots finished 4-13, placing the team fourth in the AFC East.

Despite a losing record, there is some hope going into the 2025-26 season with a number of offseason additions. New England signed former player Mike Vrabel as the new head coach in January.

On top of the new head coach, the Patriots were busy signing free agents in the offseason. They signed Stefon Diggs, Morgan Moses, Robert Spillane and more to contracts to fill some roster needs.

On top of free agent signings, they drafted offensive tackle Will Campbell who is likely to be an impact player for New England.

With all the new additions, can the Patriots be a winning team this season?

On Julian Edelman and Rob Gronkowski’s [podcast, “Dudes On Dudes](https://x.com/DudesOnDudesPod/status/1935774585213030824),” they asked former Patriots linebacker Rob Ninkovich if New England can win over or under 11 games.

Ninkovich quickly told the podcast they would be under 11 wins.

“11 wins? They just had four wins,” Ninkovich said. “Let’s be realistic.”

Gronkowski made the point that the Patriots did a lot in the offseason to become a winning team. He said with the turnaround of the Washington Commanders, the Patriots could do something similar.

With the points Gronkowski made, Ninkovich said maybe New England can win nine or 10 games during the 2025-26 season.
