Former Dolphins Offensive Lineman Announces Sudden Retirement

A former Miami Dolphins and free agent offensive lineman is calling it a career. Jesse Davis played 10 seasons in the NFL, and took to Instagram to announce that he is walking away from the game of football.

"After 10 years, I'm officially retiring from the NFL.

Thank you to all my coaches, teammates, fans — and most importantly, my family. Without you guys, I wouldn't have made it this far.

Thank you to all the organizations that gave me the opportunity to play the game I love. I've had an incredible ride that I'll never forget.

Now it's time to be a full-time Dad and figure out my next chapter," Davis' post reads.

Davis spent the bulk of his career playing for the Dolphins between the 2016 and 2021 seasons.

Initially, Davis was signed to the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent in 2015, but was waived by the team in August of that year.

Following his small stint with the Seahawks, he would be signed by the Dolphins' practice squad in November 2016. Davis would then sign a reserve/future contract with the team in January 2017.

Davis not only made the 53-man roster in 2017, but was also named starting left guard. He would then move to right tackle to replace Ja'Wuan James.

Following his breakout season on the line, Davis was named the starting right guard for the 2018 season.
