Stat Shows How Dominant Thunder Have Been This Season

The Oklahoma City Thunder are NBA champions after one of the most impressive seasons of all time.

It is hard to put into words just how powerful this team was, but looking at their point differential helps.

According to Shane Young, they now hold the highest point differential in NBA history when you combine the full season and the playoffs.

Their differential stands at 1,247, followed by the 1971 Milwaukee Bucks with 1,208.

After that, it’s the 1996 Chicago Bulls (1,194), the 2017 Golden State Warriors (1.184), and the 2024 Boston Celtics (1,083).

Highest point differential in NBA history, full season and playoff run combined:

1. 2025 Thunder – 1,247

2. 1971 Bucks – 1,208

3. 1996 Bulls – 1,194

4. 2017 Warriors – 1,184

5. 2024 Celtics – 1,083

All champions.

Like I said before, *historically* great team and season.

Young pointed out that all of these teams were champions, which says a lot.

It shows that when you are dominating your teams in such a manner, the chance of winning a title is very high.

All season, the Thunder triumphed over their opponents with big win margins.

Again and again, it looked like there wasn’t a single opponent who could consistently outdo them.

That was also true during the playoffs, as they defeated multiple strong teams, including their Finals opponents, the Indiana Pacers.

Now, everyone is wondering what this team can do next season.

They will enter 2025-26 as reigning champions, which means they will have a big target on their back and a lot to prove.

It’s unlikely that their numbers will go down by a lot unless something massive and shocking happens, so this team could actually build upon these stats in the year ahead.

That is why some people believe this is the start of a new dynasty in Oklahoma City.
