Arsenal are looking to make the sort of signings that will take them to the next level and Rodrygo would be a huge coup.

Arsenal are being linked with all the right players so far in terms of identifying the attacking talents needed to close the gap at the top of the Premier League.

The consistency, work rate and team ethic is there, however, a sprinkling of star dust is the missing link between dropping the bridesmaid tag and becoming the bride. There is a feeling that this year is make or break for Gunners boss Mikel Arteta. Signing Martin Zubimendi is a start, but there is a lot of work that needs to be done in the attack.

Arsenal linked with Rodrygo move

Several names have been mentioned like Nico Williams but Arsenal have been given encouragement towards a possible £70m move for Real Madrid’s Rodrygo according to The Mirror.

The Brazilian has found himself down the pecking order at the Bernabau starting just 58 per cent of Real’s La Liga fixtures last season, scoring six goals and creating six assists in his 30 appearances. A solid return considering.

It doesn’t look like things are going to get any better under Xabi Alonso either having started only one of Real’s Club World Cup games so far, chipping in with an assist in the process though.

If Arsenal’s next step under Arteta is to give him the weapons he needs to finally bridge the gap, then they need to sign players who guarantee quality and the 24-year old Brazilian is as close to a sure thing as there is. He would be on big wages, but he would also be one of the first names on the teamsheet too.

Andrea Berta living up to expectations if he pulls off huge Arsenal summer

Arsenal might have started the transfer window slowly, however, Spanish football expert Guilleme Balague has reassured fans that they are in safe hands with Andrea Berta leading the recruitment campaign:

In an interview with TNT Sports, Balague offered an insight into Berta, who he described as a 'top negotiator’.

"You have to say that he was the architect of the Atletico Madrid that won the league twice, got to the Champions League final twice, won the Europa League," Balague said. "That’s him working alongside Simeone in a very discreet way. He doesn’t give interviews, doesn’t give press conferences.

"We don’t know personally much about him, but certainly he’s a top negotiator and considered one of the best in the business. This is a guy that’s done very well in the context of Real Madrid and Barcelona. They have more money and yet he managed to get that extra bit that Arsenal doesn’t seem to get.

"So, he’s been described to me by one of the decision makers, one of the ones that decided to bring him in, that he’s experienced, he’s a hard worker and he’s very brave. But basically, he’s going to have to be creative as well. Arsenal are not here with the intention of spending £200 or £300 million.

"They just want to be creative with what they’ve got and what they bring in. They’re going to have to find three or four players that go straight into the starting line up. I would say a left winger, centre-forward and holding midfielder. We heard the names of Martin Zubimendi, [Viktor] Gyokeres perhaps, certainly [Benjamin] Sesko or Nico Williams. Those are the names they will try to get.”

Zubimendi, Gyokeres and Rodrygo, has the penny finally dropped at the Emirates as to what Arsenal really need to make them title winners?
