Genoa striker Albert Gudmundsson may have every chance of moving to the Premier League with Everton this transfer window.

David Moyes could lose Dominic Calvert-Lewin at the end of June, with the centre-forward’s contract expiring in the coming weeks.

Gudmundsson wants to play in the Premier League amid interest from the Toffees after spending last season on loan at Fiorentina.

It wouldn’t be surprising to see The Friedkin Group (TFG) pull off a move for the 28-year-old Iceland international as the Blues have seemingly emerged as a serious threat.

Everton can’t be underestimated in Gudmundsson transfer race

With Gudmundsson wanting to play in England, the Toffees’ interest can’t be underestimated, according to TuttoMercatoWeb.

The news outlet reports (23 June) that the Blues can’t be counted out in the race for the 28-year-old, as he’s expressed his desire to play in the Premier League.

It’s been claimed that the Icelandic star is also at the top of Roma’s wishlist, and it wouldn’t be surprising for the Friedkins to consider his signing at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

If the centre-forward opts to leave Serie A, TFG could potentially take the opportunity to sign him at the Merseyside outfit.

Moyes needs new striker transfers at Hill Dickinson Stadium

Liam Delap was on top of Moyes’ list, but the former Ipswich Town striker signed for Chelsea instead.

Villarreal centre-forward Thierno Barry is now being heavily linked with the Toffees, and his £34million release clause could be paid in the coming weeks.

Apart from Calvert-Lewin, Youssef Chermiti’s future at the Blues is also uncertain, with the 21-year-old struggling for game time at Goodison Park last season, mainly due to injuries.

Beto was constantly in the news during the winter transfer window, and there have also been talks of the Guinea-Bissau striker’s exit this summer.

Moyes should demand a marquee player to kickstart the journey at Bramley-Moore Dock, and a quality goalscorer will undoubtedly go a long way in helping the Scottish manager achieve success.

While Gudmundsson didn’t have the most encouraging goalscoring numbers in the previous campaign, the Icelandic ace has shown his qualities over the years at Genoa.

Roma have the 28-year-old on their radar for a reason, and TFG could add depth with the centre-forwards signing at the Merseyside outfit, but only time will tell what the future holds for him.
