Manchester United’s goalkeeping situation continues to attract major headlines as uncertainty looms over Andre Onana’s future at Old Trafford.

And now, the Bergamo side have begun preparing for his potential exit by identifying Elia Caprile as a replacement.
According to TuttoAtalanta, Atalanta are bracing for offers after United made early contact with Carnesecchi’s camp.
Though he recently signed a contract extension until 2028, the 24-year-old could still be sold if United meet the club’s €50 million asking price.

Atalanta are therefore exploring contingency plans, with Caprile emerging as a strong candidate to succeed Carnesecchi.
Caprile spent last season on loan at Cagliari from Napoli, helping the Sardinian club avoid relegation while keeping eight clean sheets in 22 appearances and conceding just 23 goals.
Cagliari now plan to activate their €8 million option to buy Caprile, but may quickly resell him at a profit if clubs like Atalanta firm up their interest.
The 23-year-old has proven himself as one of Serie A’s most reliable young goalkeepers.
His performances have caught the attention of several top Italian sides.
If United move decisively for Carnesecchi, Atalanta look well-prepared to pivot quickly.
