Newcastle United announce their Player of the Season - The right man won in our opinion

ยท 23 June 2025, 21:30

**Newcastle United are coming off the back of a tremendous season in which they lifted silverware for the first time in 56 years and finished high enough in the Premier League to book a place in next season's Champions League.**

It was a fantastic effort by Eddie Howe and his men, made all the more impressive given that the Magpies have now failed to add any meaningful depth to the first team in the last four transfer windows.

Players who we perhaps didn't expect to, emerged as heroes last season. Until his season ended early through injury, Lewis Hall was a huge contender for player of the season after nailing down his spot at left-back.

Jacob Murphy really stepped up for the Magpies, going on a crazy run of goal contributions, linking up with Alexander Isak brilliantly.

Alexander Isak can't be overlooked either after scoring 23 goals in the Premier League, although we'd expect him, Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes to be in the mix almost by default.

However, our choice for the Player of the Season has to be Dan Burn. The big man has stepped up his game like nobody else. We had practically written him off the season before, especially when he was deployed at left-back, but moving back into central defence awoke something in the 6'7" Blyth hero.

We could have given him the honour just for his stunning headed goal at Wembley alone, but in all honesty, that was just the cherry on top of a superb season.

As the [club announced the winner](https://www.newcastleunited.com/en/news/dan-burn-voted-uniteds-player-of-the-season-for-24-25) of the Player of the Season vote, it was clear just how popular Dan Burn is, having scooped a whopping 52% of the vote.

The lad from Blyth was convinced he'd never get to play for his boyhood club after the PIF-backed takeover, but he was one of Eddie Howe's first signings and has gone on to become one of his most important players too.

Burn is working towards his coaching badges and given how much he's looked up to (no pun intended) around the club, it's clear he'd be great at the job, so while we may only have a few more years of Burn the player, we would not be shocked to see Burn the coach at Newcastle in the future.

All hail BDB!
