"Direct contact": Italian club could now offer striker or midfielder in exchange for 25yo…

Juventus could negotiate a swap deal with Manchester United this summer, according to Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Red Devils have been active during the early phase of the transfer window, having already signed Matheus Cunha.

The club are also discussing the transfer of Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo, and there is optimism that a deal could be agreed soon.

United likewise need to focus on outgoings to extend their spending spree. Jadon Sancho is one of those expected to head for the exit door.

Gazzetta dello Sport today claim the Bianconeri have held a long-term interest in Sancho and were initially keen on signing him last summer.

Back then, the club proposed a lower salary but with a prominent role. The Turin heavyweights plan to return for the 25-year-old.

Juventus’ new general manager Damien Comolli could reportedly offer striker Dusan Vlahovic in a straight swap deal for Sancho.

Vlahovic is about to enter the last year of his contract. His reluctance to pen an extension is expected to pave the way for a departure.

David Luiz was on United’s radar at the start of the year, but he was reluctant to leave the Bianconeri midway through the season.

The Brazilian ace could also be included in a deal for Sancho. Juventus and United are presently in ‘direct contact’ through intermediaries.

United could consider Sancho-Luiz swap deal

The Red Devils are aiming to land a new striker this summer, but we are not convinced they would be interested in landing Vlahovic.

The Serbian has failed to meet expectations since his high-profile move to Juventus from Fiorentina. He has just 57 goals from 144 outings.

Vlahovic has netted 16 goals this campaign but has been guilty of squandering 22 big chances in the same period. He has a shot-to-goal conversion rate of just 13 percent.

Hence, he may not offer a significant upgrade over Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee. United could be better off pursuing a different striker.

However, the club could pursue a possible deal for Luiz. They attempted to land the Brazilian on loan in January, but a move did not materialise.

Luiz has vast Premier League experience. He was brilliant in his last season at Aston Villa (23/24), with 20 goal contributions from 52 games.

The 27-year-old can play in both the central and defensive midfield positions and would provide good control with his range of passing.

United are yearning for a player of his calibre. Casemiro is no longer in his prime and has struggled to cope with the higher intensity of the league.

Manuel Ugarte has also been inconsistent since arriving from Paris Saint-Germain. There is room for another top-class defensive midfielder.

Hence, the club could prefer to recruit Luiz instead of Vlahovic in a swap deal for Sancho.
