Arsenal should now go all out to sign 'world class' attacker amid Gabriel Martinelli exit links - opinion

Arsenal are looking to bolster their attacking options this summer transfer window.

The Gunners have been linked with several players so far, but have yet to sign anyone.

Benjamin Sesko has been a target for Arsenal while Viktor Gyokeres is also linked with a move to the Emirates.

They were also linked with Nico Williams but it has been reported that Williams has agreed to sign for Barcelona.

Another player they have been heavily linked with this summer is Real Madrid’s Rodrygo.

Arsenal need to go all in to sign Rodrygo from Real Madrid

Rodrygo is Arsenal’s top target amid uncertainty about his future at Madrid, having fallen down the pecking order since the arrival of Kylian Mbappe.

New Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso initially suggested that Rodrygo is going to be part of his plans, but the Brazilian saw himself sitting on the bench against Pachuca during the 3-1 win in the Club World Cup.

It has now been reported that Real Madrid will be willing to sell Rodrygo, and Arsenal are actively responding.

TBR Football has reported that sporting director Andrea Berta is working hard to sign Rodrygo, and is prepared to make him one of the club’s highest earners.

While Madrid values him at around £100m, it is reported that they will accept a fee close to £70m.

Having already missed out on several targets, Arsenal should be all over Rodrygo, paying whatever is required to secure the transfer.

It is the sort of statement signing the club needs to make, especially as they watch their rivals Liverpool and Man City strengthen significantly.

Gabriel Martinelli linked with a move to Bayern Munich

Arsenal’s Brazilian star Gabriel Martinelli has been linked with a move away this summer.

TBR Football has reported that Bayern Munich are eyeing a move for Martinelli, as they consider options to bolster the left side of their attack.

The report has claimed that the player is considering his options amid the links.

Martinelli leaving will make it all the more vital for Arsenal to sign Rodrygo, although his signature should not be dependent on the 24-year-old’s exit.

Rodrygo would be a fantastic signing for Arsenal

Rodrygo would bring immediate attacking depth and versatility to Arsenal.

Though primarily used as a right-winger at Real Madrid, the right-footed Brazilian prefers the left side and is also capable of playing centrally as a No. 9.

This flexibility enables him to operate across all three forward positions, making him a valuable asset.

His output speaks for itself, with 14 goals and 11 assists last season despite the limited playing time.

Since his move to Madrid in 2019, he has made 268 appearances for the club, scoring 68 and assisting 51.

Signing him would serve as a major boost for Arsenal’s chances to compete for the title next season.
