Jose Mourinho agrees to sign Leeds United man, flight to Turkey booked this weekend - Report

Reports from Turkey are claiming that Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier is on his way to Fenerbahce this week.

One position that is unanimously agreed upon as an area in need of investment this summer at Elland Road is the goalkeeper department.

Illan Meslier was the unquestioned number one for the vast majority of Daniel Farke’s two seasons at the club, but April saw the end of his time as a starter, begging the question of how the club plan for next season.

Illan Meslier transfer from Leeds United to Fenerbahce ‘agreed’

As much as it’s expected that Leeds sign a new number one at some point this summer, it still leaves Meslier himself needing to sort his future out too – unlikely to be wanting to be second choice next term.

Reports from Turkish outlet Ajansspor this week claim that a deal to take the Frenchman from Leeds to Fenerbahce is agreed between all parties, with the Super Lig club supposedly pipping Galatasaray to the transfer.

Meslier enters the final 12 months of his contract in seven days’ time and the report states a “deal is done” between Leeds and Fenerbahce.

The 25-year-old also is said to be flying over to Istanbul this weekend to finalise a deal.

Leeds need to find rapid solution for goalkeeper spot and Meslier too

If a deal to see Meslier head to Fenerbahce is agreed, it’s probably best for both him and the club to get it sorted soon.

Leeds fans have wanted a change in goal for some time and that Swansea calamity was the final straw for Farke too, so the writing’s been on the wall for months now.

It’s an intriguing move to say the least, but you’d expect if these reports do materialise, Meslier would be due to play European football next season under Jose Mourinho no less.
