Things have been relatively quiet on the transfer front for Juventus as their new front office — namely general manager Damien Comolli — gets settled into their new digs in Turin. The timing, combined with the Club World Cup, means that Juve have, unlike some other clubs at the tournament, pretty much have the same roster as they did in their domestic finale.
So in a summer in which the front office’s activity is yet to truly be known, there appears to be the first legitimate negotiations for potential departures going on.
According to Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio and others in Italy like Fabrizio Romano, Juventus and Premier League side Nottingham Forest have opened talks for wingers Timothy Weah and Samuel Mbangula. While the talks appear to be at a relatively early stage, Di Marzio said Juventus could ask for a price tag of around €23 million combined for the two players. Juventus and Forest have yet to agree to any sort of fee, according to Romano, who adds that neither player have agreed to personal terms with the English side.
Forest are looking to bolster their roster ahead of qualifying for European football for the first time in 30 years this past season.
Weah, 25, and Mbangula, 21, are two players who had bright moments last season but ultimately find themselves in a little bit of an unknown space with Igor Tudor being confirmed as manager for next season (and beyond). Mbangula’s playing time took a nose dive after Tudor took over for Thiago Motta in March, while Weah was primarily used as a wingback — a position in which he still isn’t a total natural at — once Tudor stepped in as manager.
Weah scored six goals and recorded five assists in all competitions last season. Mbangula, in his first season at the senior level after appearing with the Juve Next Gen during the 2023-24 campaign, scored four goals and had four assists in 32 games in all competitions.
Both players are part of Juventus’ Club World Cup squad this summer. They were unused subs in Juve’s 4-1 win over Wydad Casablanca this past weekend.
