German giants keen on Liverpool duo

Liverpool will face Championship side Preston North End in their first pre-season friendly of the summer, before heading to Asia on tour.

The Premier League champions will face Italian side AC Milan in Hong Kong before facing Japanese side Yokohama F. Marinos in Yokohama at the end of July.

Arne Slot’s side then return to Merseyside to host Spanish side Athletic Bilbao in their final pre-season fixture, before meeting Crystal Palace at Wembley in the Community Shield.

In the meantime, it has emerged that two of Liverpool’s most important players are attracting interest from one of Europe’s biggest clubs.

According to CaughtOffside, German champions Bayern Munich are keeping tabs on Liverpool duo Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz.

The report claims that the Bundesliga side are monitoring Diaz, who has also been the subject of interest from Spanish side Barcelona.

Diaz himself is said to be keen on the idea of a move to Barcelona, however Bayern are keeping tabs on the player and could move for him if the La Liga champions fail to lure him to Catalonia.

Having joined the Reds from Porto in 2022, the 28-year-old has now scored 41 goals and provided 23 assists in 148 games for the Merseyside outfit across all competitions.

As well as Diaz, the report claims that Bayern are also interested in Gakpo, who enjoyed a fine campaign for Slot’s side last term.

The Dutchman scored 18 goals and provided seven assists across all competitions, helping Liverpool to win the Premier League title for just the second time in their history.

Bayern are also said to have identified Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli as a potential target as they look to bolster Vincent Kompany’s squad.

Diaz has also been the subject of interest from clubs in the Saudi Pro League, however the player himself has not yet been dealt an offer that meets his financial expectations.

The Colombia international is currently under contract until 2027, while Gakpo’s deal is set to run until the summer of 2028.
