Cooper Kupp Reveals His Honest Thoughts About Sam Darnold

The Seattle Seahawks’ offense will look much different next season.

Geno Smith is no longer at the helm, and Tyler Lockett and D.K. Metcalf are also long gone.

Now, they will have Sam Darnold and Cooper Kupp leading the way instead.

This new partnership is promising, and Kupp recently admitted to being a big fan of his new quarterback.

Talking on NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football,” Kupp gushed about Darnold’s throwing ability:

“He’s always been an incredible thrower of the football,” Kupp said.

Darnold entered the league with high expectations, but the early results were far from encouraging.

Then again, to be fair, it was hard to succeed with the New York Jets and the Carolina Panthers.

He later embraced a lesser role, learning from Kyle Shanahan and sitting as the San Francisco 49ers’ backup.

That, plus playing in Kevin O’Connell’s quarterback-friendly system, finally helped him break out and have a strong year last season.

We’ve seen some late bloomers in the past, and the Seahawks will hope that last year’s success wasn’t a fluke and that, just like what happened with his predecessor, his best years are ahead of him.

Darnold’s arm talent has always been remarkable; it’s never been an issue.

Nevertheless, he left plenty to be desired when it mattered most with the Minnesota Vikings last season, once again raising questions about whether he could be a franchise-caliber quarterback.

Next season will be crucial to making or breaking that narrative, but at least he will have a reliable pass-catcher by his side, trying to make his job a lot easier.
