Sacramento Kings shopping two players in search of adding a first-round pick

The Sacramento Kings have some work to do after missing the playoffs in back-to-back years. Yet, after reaching the playoffs just once since 2006, perhaps it’s time the Kings do something bold to return to relevance.

However, according to [Michael Scotto of Hoops Hype](https://hoopshype.com/lists/nba-intel-kevin-durant-trade-rockets-suns-heat-timberwolves-raptors-thunder-pacers-kings/), the Kings have been trying to acquire a first-round pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. To do so, the Kings are dangling guards Malik Monk and even Devin Carter, the 13th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.

> “The Kings have expressed a desire to acquire a first-round pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, league sources told HoopsHype. Amid those conversations, Sacramento has gauged the trade market on guards Malik Monk and Devin Carter, sources said.”

Are the Kings already down on Carter just a year after selecting him in the first round? The 23-year-old only appeared in 36 games, without making a start. When he did play, Carter averaged a respectable 11 minutes per game.

Yet, the Kings must have their eye on a prospect, or likely a handful of prospects that they like, if they’re willing to part with their first-round pick from a year ago.

The Kings were supposed to have the 13th overall pick, but that selection was traded to the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for Kevin Huerter in 2022. For now, all the Kings have as a second-round selection, or the 42nd overall pick
