Steelers ‘Listening’ to Jalen Ramsey Trade Ideas Claims Insider

To address some of their biggest roster concerns this offseason the Pittsburgh Steelers have moved aggressively in pursuit of some big names available through trade or free agency.

They started with a trade for wide receiver DK Metcalf earlier in the spring. Just a few weeks ago the Steelers ended the worst kept secret in football after officially signing quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

The viability of these solutions is certainly up for debate. Yet the Steelers at minimum have a response for pertinent questions to their team next season.

But there is one position still in doubt for the Steelers and that is at cornerback. Pittsburgh flexes their defensive muscle among the front seven but lack the same fortification in the secondary.

During an appearance on 93.7 The Fan in Pittsburgh, Steelers insider Mark Kaboly contemplated the idea of the team once again acting on a resolution, this time in trading for Miami Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey.

"I bet you they're listening. I mean, the salary is not bad, it's a one-year deal really right? I think he has no guarantees past this year... Now people say where do you want to put him? I don't care."

This stems from the concerns over the two corners projected to start in Pittsburgh's defensive backfield. Darius Slay has aged significantly in recent years and could be a complete shell of his former self this season.

Meanwhile, Joey Porter Jr. has not yet shown the maturation and discipline needed to command the trust of the Steelers' coaching staff.

"I'm not confident, absolutely not. I think there's potential... that's probably more than offensive line, more than quarterback, is the one you gotta really, really look at. It could all go South in a hurry."

Perhaps the third-year pro can put forth a style more positively reflective of his age and experience and the veteran can provide one more solid year. But the likelihood of both working out in the Steelers favor down the stretch does not appear promising.

Other teams are deeper in contention for Ramsey's services and the Steelers would have to put in a convincing effort to reel in another big catch. It would stand to benefit the Steelers to acquire a more reliable secondary piece though the prospects here appear slim at best.
