MANOR, Texas — Manor Senior High School alumni Tahj Brooks and Prince Umanmielen returned home to a Mustang welcome after being drafted into the National Football League. Brooks was selected by the Cincinnati Bengals, while Umanmielen was picked by the Carolina Panthers.
The community gathered to celebrate the achievements of the two former Mustangs, who have become role models for local youth.
"That means a lot for me, and I feel like it means a lot for Princely as well, too, because we're big figures, we're big idols, you know, that kids look up to and they want to be us someday," said Brooks.
The celebration included remarks from their high school coach, James Keller, who expressed his pride.
Can’t explain how proud I am of Princely and Tahj," said Keller.

In a special tribute, Manor Mayor Dr. Christopher Harvey proclaimed June 23, 2025, as Tahj Brooks Day and Prince Umanmielen Day, honoring their accomplishments and contributions to the community.
"It's just a great honor to be, you know, honored by the community that you grew up in," said Umanmielen.
The event highlighted the impact of Brooks and Umanmielen as inspirations for young people in Manor.
"It takes a village to raise a child, and when they set their minds, dreams, and dream big, they can accomplish anything," said Robert Sormani, superintendent of Manor ISD.
Brooks, who set the Texas Tech all-time career rushing record, and Umanmielen, a third-round draft pick, are eager to continue inspiring the next generation.
"That brightens up my day every time that you put a smile on somebody's face," said Brooks. Umanmielen added, "It's just a great accomplishment to be able to do something, you know, big and, you know, put Manor more on the map."
This marks the third consecutive year that a Manor Senior High alum has been selected in the NFL Draft.
