Villa linked with potential move to strengthen Emery’s attacking options

The 24-year-old is coming off the back of a highly impressive season with the Dutch giants, having contributed 18 goals and 19 assists in 47 appearances across all competitions.

Unsurprisingly, that form has resulted in the Brazilian ace attracting interest from elsewhere, and according to [AD](https://www.ad.nl/voetbal/quilindschy-hartman-op-weg-naar-premier-league-verkoop-kan-start-van-transferdrukte-bij-feyenoord-zijn~a037b171/), Villa are one of the clubs potentially lining up a swoop for him this summer.

The report notes that Feyenoord are looking to secure a significant transfer fee for their prized asset that will likely break the club record for a player sale, and it’s suggested that Villa are perhaps willing to spend big on prising him away.

However, importantly, it’s also added that a transfer is still a long way off from materialising at this stage, and so it remains to be seen if negotiations are initiated between the clubs to start the discussion over a possible move.

Paixao was predominantly used on the left wing last season, utilising his ability to cut inside and provide a serious goalscoring threat in the final third, while his creativity was on show too as seen with his assists tally.

That said, he has the versatility to play in different roles in the attacking third, and so he could be a crucial addition to Unai Emery’s squad this summer if a deal becomes a realistic possibility.

With Marcus Rashford departing after his loan spell, it leaves a void in our attacking unit in terms of giving us a different dynamic and option to play on the left side instead of Jacob Ramsey, and so Paixao would tick an important box in that regard.

Nevertheless, with June 30 rapidly approaching, the wait goes on to see what Villa feel they must do before the deadline to ensure we remain complaint with PSR as well as trying to reduce our wage bill in relation to SCR, and so a big-money signing, be it Paixao or another target, will surely have to wait until early next month to become a genuine possibility.
