With the Kevin Durant trade behind us, the Phoenix Suns are now on the board at 10, and Jonathan Givony has them picking Collin Murray-Boyles.
It’s also got some interesting changes to the top ten, but specifically with Ace Bailey and the Utah Jazz. It appears to have stayed the same at #3 and #4 with the Sixers and Hornets picking VJ Edgecombe and Kon Knueppel, respectively.
In this mock, Givony has the Washington Wizards taking Ace Bailey at #6. The rumor mill has been having Ace Bailey falling to #8, but it looks like the Wizards are going to spoil the party and take him at #6. With the draft just days away, it makes sense that some teams are saying, “Why are we passing on him, exactly?” Which brings us to Utah.
Maybe the Jazz are looking at Bailey also, and who knows if they don’t decide on draft night to take him, but it’s looking like Utah is serious about Jeremiah Fears.
I’ll be honest, I think it could be the right pick. When you look at his handle being the best in the draft, it’s intriguing. His ability to get anywhere and find ways to score in a myriad of ways points to a player who could develop into a special player. The archetype is basically Kyrie Irving. If Fears hits his ceiling, he’s going to be an elite scorer that could play off of a star and score at an elite level, a lot like we saw from Kyrie playing off of Luka Doncic in past seasons. He’s also not quite as small as he’s being talked about. He was 6’2.5” without shoes which puts him at 6’3”-6’4” playing height give or take. He also cares on defense enough that he can be passable if he has the right mentality. We’ll see what the Jazz do, but it’s clear that things might get interesting come draft night.
