Jay Bilas believes Jaxson Robinson could get drafted; UK guard has been cleared for contact

Happy endings are great to see in sports. That could be the case for Jaxson Robinson, who is hoping to hear his name called at the NBA Draft next week.

ESPN’s Jay Bilas believes Robinson could hear his name called next week.

“I think Jaxson Robinson, because of his ability to shoot the ball and shoot it from deep, has a very good chance of getting drafted,” Bilas said in a recent conference call with media members.

Robinson was having a really good season before he sustained a wrist injury that ended his season prematurely. In 24 games, he averaged 13 points per game, 3.5 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 28.1 minutes per game. He also shot 46.2% from the field and 45.7% from 3-point range in SEC play, including a memorable four 3-pointers in a road win at Tennessee.

Duane Rankin of the Arizona Republic is reporting that the Oklahoma native was cleared for contact recently and has either met with or will meet with these franchises before the draft: Kings, Warriors, Suns, Lakers, Cavaliers, and Celtics.

While Robinson ranks No. 65 on ESPN’s latest rankings update, there is hope his shooting abilities could be what prompts a team to draft him.

The NBA Draft is this Wednesday and Thursday on ESPN.
