Chelsea could look to bring in a high profile Paris Saint-Germain forward and sell two first team stars this summer.
West Ham manager Graham Potter could come knocking at the door of former club Chelsea this summer transfer window.
The Hammers have an important summer of business ahead of them after a thoroughly underwhelming campaign last time out. It’s Potter’s first full transfer window at the London Stadium and several positions are set to be priorities to strengthen.
West Ham are believed to be having to sell before they buy given financial regulations but the goalkeeping spot is one where investment is expected. That comes with Lukasz Fabianski set to leave the club this summer.
West Ham linked with Chelsea goalkeeper
The veteran, who has been linked with Charlton Athletic, was second choice behind Alphonse Areola last season but did enjoy a run of games as number one under former manager Julen Lopetegui. West Ham confirmed his upcoming departure in a statement that read: “West Ham United can confirm that Aaron Cresswell, Łukasz Fabiański, Vladimír Coufal and Danny Ings will leave the Club when their contracts expire at the end of the 2024/25 season.
“The four members of our 2023 UEFA Europa Conference League-winning squad all played their part in one of the most successful periods in West Ham United’s history, and will depart having made a combined total of more than 800 first-team appearances between them.
“Fabiański, who recently celebrated his 40th birthday, achieved the same feat, winning the Hammer of the Year award in 2019 after joining from Swansea City the previous summer. The Polish international goalkeeper has played 215 times so far in his seven seasons at the Club.”
The Times reports that Potter could look to fill that void by moving for Chelsea man Robert Sanchez. The Spaniard remains number one at Stamford Bridge but made several high profile errors last season, coming under criticism.
Blues boss Enzo Maresca has maintained faith in his goalkeepers but Chelsea did make a move for AC Milan man Mike Maignan prior to the Club World Cup, which could suggest change is afoot and a potential exit door open for Sanchez. Potter never worked with Sanchez at Chelsea but knows the player well from his time at Brighton.
Enzo Maresca targets PSG forward
Meanwhile, when it comes to incomings, L’Equipe claim that Chelsea have opened talks with Paris Saint-Germain man Randal Kolo Muani. The Frenchman was signed by the Ligue 1 giants for £76 million in 2023 but spent last season on loan at Juventus.
Juventus are hopeful of bringing the player back to Italy but could face competition from the Premier League. Chelsea have brought Liam Delap to the Bridge for £30 million and have the former Ipswich Town man to lead the line alongside Nicolas Jackson.
Sky Sports claims that Jackson could be offloaded by Maresca, with Saudi Arabian clubs interested. That in turn would open space on the books for another marquee forward signing such as Kolo Muani - who was once hailed as the ‘complete’ striker by former PSG teammate Kylian Mbappe.
