Aston Villa have a big summer ahead of them on the transfer front ahead of next season in the Premier League

Aston Villa have the opportunity to freshen up their ranks this summer. Unai Emery could look to bring in some new players over the next couple of months to add more quality to his squad. He also has the chance to let certain players head out the exit door if needed to free up space and funds.

The Midlands outfit missed out on the Champions League in the last campaign. They didn’t finish in the top five in the end which was disappointing. Manchester United beat them on the final day at Old Trafford after Emi Martinez was sent off.

Aston Villa eyeing Feyenoord star Igor Paixao

Aston Villa are ‘willing to pay big’ for Feyenoord attacker Igor Paixao, according to Algemeen Dagblad (via Sport Witness). They are being linked with a move for the Eredivisie star. He is under contract with his current club until June 2029 meaning they are under no pressure to sell him just yet and they can wait for the right offer to come in for his services in this window.

Paixao, 24, is a former Brazil youth international and he is still waiting on his senior debut. He was called up back in February for the first time but hasn’t featured yet. The forward has been a key player since his switch to De Cuip back in 2022 but it remains to be seen whether he will be sticking around for next term amid attention from Villa Park.

He has recently suggested he is open to a departure, as per Globo Esporte: “Showing my football, being recognised by the big clubs, is gratifying. I dream of getting to a big team, it is the fruit of my work. If it is meant to happen, it will happen.”

Would Feyenoord’s Igor Paixao suit Aston Villa?

Aston Villa could see Paixao as someone to boost their attacking department. If he joined, he would give them another option to pick from going forward. He would also offer them something different in attack.

The Macapa-born man started his career in South America at Coritiba and rose up through their academy. He was a regular for his former team at various different youth levels before breaking into their first-team. Londrina came calling on loan back in 2020 and he was given the green light to go to get some more experience under his belt.

Paixao then became a valuable asset on his return to Estádio Major Antônio Couto Pereira and went on to play 95 matches altogether, finding the net on 21 occasions. Feyenoord then swooped in for his signature and he moved over to Europe as a youngster for the first time. He has since scored 39 goals in 129 matches, 39 of which came in the last campaign.

Aston Villa may now offer him the platform to show what he can do in the Premier League. Despite not getting into the Champions League, they will still compete in Europe in the Europa League. That means they could do with getting some more bodies through the door to ensure they can deal with the work load.
