Barely a transfer rumour passes without Leeds United being labelled as “in competition” for a West Ham target—and today is no different.
According to Leeds United News, the Hammers’ latest target—Mario Stroeykens—is also the subject of a transfer bid from the Yorkshire club.
There’s been a real buzz around West Ham’s pursuit of the young Anderlecht star in recent days. Yesterday’s speculation culminated in reports that the Hammers had lodged a €10m bid, with the Belgian club said to be holding out for double that amount.

The Leeds United website appears to confirm West Ham’s interest in Stroeykens but claims there have also been “talks” between Leeds and Anderlecht. In addition, another Belgian-based Irons target—Raphael Onyedika—is also named as a player of interest to Daniel Farke’s side.
Clearly, newly promoted Leeds are wasting no time strengthening their squad. They remain a sleeping giant with serious ambition, and whether it’s Habib Diarra, Lucas Stassin, or this latest crop of names, it seems both clubs are shopping in the same aisles.
Whether Leeds interest in West Ham’s Tomas Soucek has cooled is hard to say. But it’s becoming clear that out of all three promoted Championship teams, Leeds will be the ones to watch.
