Brighton are “confident” of striking a deal for Liverpool fringe star Harvey Elliott, sources have told Football Insider.
The Seagulls are among the front-runners to land the 22-year-old before the 1 September deadline later this summer.
Liverpool’s club-record deal for Florian Wirtz has pushed Elliott further down the pecking order at Anfield.
The Germany international’s arrival has also left the Reds needing to boost their transfer war chest ahead of further additions to Arne Slot‘s side this summer.
Wirtz deal signals the end for Elliott at Liverpool
Brighton are smart operators and are capable of meeting Liverpool’s £40million asking price for Elliott after their big-money transfer business in recent windows.
Elliott has made his feelings clear on a potential exit from Anfield after struggling for game time under Slot last season.

Earlier this month, the versatile midfielder insisted he doesn’t want to “waste his career” and hinted a move away could be the answer.
Elliott made 28 appearances across all competitions last season, scoring five goals and notching three assists.
However, just six of those outings came as part of the starting lineup – with the former Fulham star playing just 822 minutes of action across the 2024-25 campaign.

Brighton star Ferguson could make Eredivisie move
Meanwhile, Football Insider has revealed (20 June) that PSV Eindhoven have been offered the chance to sign Brighton striker Evan Ferguson.
The 20-year-old striker is set to be on the move again this summer after spending the second half of last season on loan at West Ham.
Everton and Nottingham Forest are also among the clubs who have registered their interest to Brighton.
