After a week of it being relatively quiet on the Viktor Gyökeres reporting front, with the same saga explanation being [repeated in Italy for a Juventus audience](https://sportwitness.co.uk/viktor-gyokeres-arsenal-manchester-united-latest/), it appears that the drama is truly kicking off again.
That’s no surprise, Sporting CP are due back at training a week today, so everything is set to come to a head.
Tuesday’s edition of [Record](http://record.pt) reports they’ve been informed of a telephone call the Sweden international made to Sporting president Frederico Varandas. Gyökeres is said to have made it clear he wants a move to Arsenal, and wants to leave Sporting this summer no matter what.
Record say their source explained Gyökeres told Varandas he’s given everything for the Liabon side and if they accepted €60m plus €10m in bonuses, it would be multiple times what they paid for him. Nobody has offered that yet anyway, Arsenal’s offer, which wasn’t official, stood at €55m plus €10m.
Gyökeres is said to have ‘confided his despair’ to Varandas, and: _‘He does not want and will not (of his own free will) return to Alvalade, having appealed to the president to understand the importance of the moment.’_
That moment is seen as an opportunity to join Arsenal which may not come around again given the player is 27-years-of-age.
Those close to Gyökeres say he’s been showing signs of ‘enormous fatigue’, with Record then stating: _‘If Arsenal sign another striker in the meantime and discard the Nordic player, Gyökeres will never forgive those responsible for this.’_
Reading between the lines, it would appear Viktor Gyökeres has believed he’s moving to Arsenal for a long time, which fits in with Portuguese reports from months ago. The reason for that belief would be those representing him telling him so, as they thought a discounted transfer fee was assured.
