Oklahoma City Thunder Dynasty Talk Squashed by ESPN Host Michael Wilbon

The Oklahoma City Thunder won their first ever NBA championship on Sunday night giving NBA fans plenty of new material to discuss heading toward this week's NBA draft.

The Thunder's relatively stoic post-championship locker room celebration showed the professionalism and no-nonsense attitude of coach Mark Daigneault's team after its win over the Pacers, fueling talk of a potential dynasty in the works in OKC.

Following the Thunder victory, ESPN host Michael Wilbon was asked for his take on whether OKC has the look of the NBA's next dynasty, a question to which he did not hesitate to respond in harsh fashion.

"Are we looking at the beginning of a potential dynasty in Oklahoma City?" Wilbon was asked.

"No. No. No....Are people not paying attention?...Every team is one contract dispute, one locker room dispute, & one snapped Achilles away from a 4-place finish & a 2nd-round exit," Wilbon said, appearing to reference what happened to Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton as well as Celtics forward Jayson Tatum of the 2023-24 champion Boston Celtics.

"Bucks was about to go back to back," one fan said in response to Wilbon's assertions including a reminder of Khris Middleton's 2022 injury against the Chicago Bulls.

"He's right, NBA right now is last healthy team standing," another fan said.

"He's honestly right," another added.

"Ain't wrong," still another reader said under the video of Wilbon.

"Next season, OKC is good," another fan said.

"After that, things are gonna change," they added, referencing Chet Holmgren and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's contract situations.
