Chelsea hope to beat Bayern Munich in the race to sign Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens in the summer window.
The Blues have already had a bid rejected for the player, as they failed to secure his signature before the closing of the pre-Club World Cup transfer window earlier this month.
However, Chelsea is not giving up, and according to transfer guru David Ornstein, they are hoping to strike a deal for Gittens swiftly.

Writing for The Athletic, Ornstein claims that talks have continued between Chelsea and Dortmund. The former Manchester City winger prefers a move to Stamford Bridge, and a seven-year contract is ready to go when the deal is reached.
It is an open secret that Bayern Munich are looking to sign a new left-winger in the summer window. The Bavarian giants have already been linked with a host of players, and Gittens has emerged as one of their targets.
Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg claimed that Gittens features high on Max Eberl’s list, while Vincent Kompany gave the green light for the transfer back in January.
Bayern have recently discussed the possibility of signing Gittens, who is valued at around £55.6m. It was suggested that Gittens could be an option for Bayern if they fail to land Nico Williams or Bradley Barcola.
Are Bayern really serious about signing Gittens?
Christian Falk, however, told CFBayern before that Bayern were not willing to match Dortmund’s price for Gittens.
The young talent had an inconsistent 2024-25 campaign, and despite his vast potential, Bayern focused on other profiles — players who consistently play at a high level.
If that’s the scenario, the chances are high that Bayern didn’t make any concrete effort to sign Gittens this summer. Williams or Barcola remain their dream targets, while they are also interested in Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo and Luis Dias.
Nevertheless, having already suffered a transfer battle defeat against Liverpool for Florian Wirtz, it appears Bayern will lose another target to a Premier League club.
