Report: Man Utd target£21m player named the best in his league, would be second ever to do one thing at Old Trafford

Manchester United’s summer transfer window plans are far from finished, with a central midfielder still desired at Old Trafford.

There are just two weeks until pre-season commences for Ruben Amorim’s side at Carrington, and there is still a lot for Ineos to do.

Heading into the transfer window, Manchester United planned to move quickly and secure all of Amorim’s priority signings, as well as sales, before the start of pre-season.

However, so far, United have signed Matheus Cunha, who is the only confirmed addition at the beginning of the final week of June. However, United are close to signing Bryan Mbeumo with a second bid of more than £60m now submitted.

This deal would tick off two of the four key positions United planned to strengthen. Once funds are raised with sales, United are expected to move for a striker and a midfielder.

Now, an interesting midfield option has emerged from the Russian Premier League.

Manchester United are monitoring Krasnodar’s Eduard Spertsyan

While not among the most essential positions this summer, a new midfielder would be a welcome addition for Amorim’s United.

Amorim has expressed a desire for more technical quality in midfield previously, and with rumours suggesting Casemiro may be on his way to Saudi Arabia, now a potential signing has emerged.

This comes according to Tutto Atalanta, who report that 25-year-old Armenian, Eduard Spertsyan, is now wanted across Europe.

Atalanta is one side interested, while Ajax is seen as being most concrete. However, there is also interest from United and PSG, two big names who are monitoring the midfielder.

Krasnodar’s star man is now for sale, but offers of around €25m would be considered this summer, a significant figure for Russian football. Spertsyan is a goalscoring midfielder who can play both in the number 10 and deeper, making him a player who could interest Amorim.

This would be a signing that has Christopher Vivell, the head of recruitment, written all over it.

It is no shock that Spertsyan has earned suitors from across Europe after his incredible season as Krasnodar lifted their first-ever Russian league title.

Spertsyan was key in this, scoring 11 and assisting seven in 28 games, which has seen him earn some comparisons to Jude Bellingham and other top goal-scoring midfielders.

For his form, Spertsyan was named the best player in the Russian Premier League last season, as Sport Aran reported.

If Spertsyan were to join United, he would become only the second ever Armenian international to do so, following in the footsteps of Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who was a signing under Jose Mourinho.
