United Begin Talks for Chelsea’s Nkunku

Manchester United have reportedly begun discussions with agents of Christopher Nkunku over a surprise summer move.

United Make Bold Move for Nkunku

Manchester Utd have reportedly opened early talks with Christopher Nkunku’s agents to explore a potential summer switch from Chelsea.

The French forward struggled for consistent game time last season under new Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca. He is now looking for a fresh start. Despite being tied to the Blues until 2029, he could be allowed to leave if a good offer comes in. He made only nine starts in the Premier League during the last campaign. He has found the net three times, playing more time in the Conference League than in domestic action.

French media L’Equipe has reported that Man Utd have reached out to the player’s camp. Although, an official bid has not been made to the Blues. Bayern Munich and Barcelona will be monitoring the situation with the 26 year old attacker. Given that, United will be facing competition for his signature.

Red Devils Eye Attacking Reinforcements

With Ruben Amorim now at the centre, Manchester Utd are actively looking for fresh firepower to boost their front line. The new boss wants to bring in at least two new attacking players before the start of the season. Utd are targeting Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo alongside Nkunku.

However, their first offer of £45m plus £10m of add-ons was rejected by the Bees. Brentford are hoping to secure closer to £60m. Mbeumo is seeking a big pay rise. This would increase his salary to £250k per week, five times what he’s currently earning.

United’s still looking for a market No. 9, with Viktor Gyokeres and Victor Osimhen now the leading contenders. There are a number of key decisions to be made, so it will be a busy summer at Old Trafford.
