Liverpool being bombarded with calls from club CEO–Attempts ongoing to reduce asking price

Over the past few days, the Italian press has grown increasingly convinced that Liverpool’s Darwin Nunez is interested in a move to Napoli.

The Naples side are yet to reach any sort of agreement with the Reds but it seems as if attempts are getting increasingly desperate.

Gazzetta dello Sport report Liverpool are being bombarded with calls from Napoli CEO Aurelio de Laurentiis, or his representatives, who is trying to convince the Merseyside club about reducing their asking price for Nunez.

Napoli believe that the Uruguayan would bring an Edinson Cavani-like impact to their frontline, even if Romelu Lukaku will also be playing upfront.

Liverpool want a fee that is close to €70m to sell the forward. Napoli are pressing to drag that amount down.

They are unlikely to have problems in covering Nunez’s wage of €5m per season, likely to be after tax, and he would also be open to adjusting his demands.

Sporting director Giovanni Manna has succeeded in convincing the player, as De Laurentiis attempts to pile on the pressure.

Everything now hinges on Liverpool and the potential discount they could give.
