Manchester City chiefs will be “pulling their hair out” after sanctions have been revealed at the Etihad Stadium.
Pep Guardiola’s side have been fined £1.08million by the Premier League for repeatedly kicking off or starting matches late last season.
Nine of Man City’s matches across the 2024-25 campaign were delayed at kick-off or half-time.
The longest delay came in the second half of the Manchester derby in December, where the game restarted two minutes and 24 seconds later than scheduled.
Man City were fined more than £2million last year for delaying 22 matches in the 2023-24 season.
Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider it’s “very strange” for the incident to happen on so many occasions.

An independent commission hearing into the case started in September last year and ended in December, with the panel currently considering its decision.

Man City ‘setting fire to cash’ after new reveal
Borson insisted Man City are “setting fire to cash” following their latest sanctions for delaying matches.
He told Football Insider: “I think it’s the sort of issue that the executive team and the finance team will be pulling their hair out at.
“It’s just setting fire to cash. There is going to be a difference of view between the footballing side and the business side.
“The business side is going to be furious with it because it’s just a complete waste, but the football side presumably there’s some kind of reason why it keeps happening, whether deliberate or otherwise.
“I assume it is deliberate. City will say it isn’t, but no other club seems to have this issue, so this is very strange for it to happen in so many games.
“When you look at the last fine versus this fine, they’ll keep getting fined and the fines will get worse.
“Some of these fines now are £200,000 in a single game. It’s just a total waste of money.
“I don’t know what’s going on there, but clearly City on the footballing side think that there’s some purpose to it, and on the business side they’ll be furious.”

In terms of a potential incoming, Football Insider revealed on 15 June Man City hold an interest in signing Gianluigi Donnarumma from PSG following uncertainty surrounding Ederson’s future.
The Italy international has just one year remaining on his contract, sparking interest from several top clubs, but PSG are doing everything they can to tie him down.
