Fenerbahce make'serious progress'in Jadon Sancho pursuit, Jose Mourinho could save Man Utd flop

The transfer window has slowed down since the beginning of the Club World Cup, but that will soon change as Manchester United and other clubs look to improve their options ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Manchester United aim to improve after a disastrous 2024/25 season. From losing the Europa League final against Tottenham to finishing 15th in the Premier League, the Red Devils won’t have any European football next term.

Since the beginning of the summer transfer window, United have made one signing to bolster Ruben Amorim’s attacking options. Matheus Cunha arrived from Wolves and could soon be joined by Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo.

A second bid for Mbeumo was made this week, but the focus will soon shift towards selling players such as Antony, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho. All three of these players were sent out on loan last season and are now looking for permanent moves away from Old Trafford.

There is also uncertainty over the future of Rasmus Hojlund and Alejandro Garnacho, which means United could have an entirely new attack before the competitive season kicks off.

Fenerbahce working on Jadon Sancho deal

United are eager to get Sancho off the wage bill.

The former Borussia Dortmund winger is one of the top earners at United, even though he is not part of Amorim’s plans for the future.

After spending last season on loan at Chelsea, Sancho is set to return to United as pre-season looms. Chelsea opted to pay a £5 million penalty fee rather than sign the winger permanently.

Reports suggest Amorim will axe Sancho and co from his squad for the US tour this summer.

Napoli were interested in Sancho but appear to be moving on to other targets, while Juventus are keen to sign the United flop.

There is now a claim from Turkey that Fenerbahçe is getting closer to a potential deal for Sancho. Turkish journalist Murat Zorlu understands that Fenerbahçe are taking positive steps towards getting a deal over the line.

“As far as I know, there has been serious progress with Jadon Sancho,” Zorlu said, as cited by Sport Witness. “He’s the one that’s moving forward right now.”

Fenerbahçe are looking to find a replacement for Allan Saint-Maximin, who has returned to his parent club Al-Hilal following a season-long loan spell.

Sancho’s wages could prove to be a stumbling block.

Jose Mourinho could save Sancho from Man Utd

There is no disputing that Sancho has had a nightmare period at United.

The winger made 83 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring 12 goals and registering six assists.

While Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was responsible for bringing Sancho to United, former United manager Jose Mourinho is now said to be eyeing a move for the 25-year-old.

Mourinho could help save Sancho’s career if the England international can go to Turkey, where football is played at a lower standard, and rekindle his career.

Sancho may start to enjoy his football again if he’s finding it easier, as seen in the Europa Conference League with Chelsea last season.

This also opens up the door to a potential reunion between Sancho and Fred.
