Borussia Dortmund star Jamie Gittens is Chelsea’s priority target for the winger position right now, but he is not the only wide man who could end up joining the Blues this summer.
Chelsea tried to sign Gittens in the transfer window just before the Club World Cup but could not agree a deal with Dortmund. However, their pursuit is not over yet.
Despite interest from German giants Bayern Munich, Chelsea are still chasing Gittens. The Blues do have alternatives to Gittens, but Enzo Maresca is in a position right now where he probably needs the 20-year-old as well as another name on the club’s shortlist.
Jadon Sancho’s return to Manchester United and Mykhailo Mudryk’s suspension have left Chelsea light in the wide positions.

Chelsea could add both Jamie Gittens and Alejandro Garnacho to their squad
Maresca may very well end up getting two new wingers before the transfer window closes, with Gittens and Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho both arriving at Stamford Bridge a possibility.
According to The Telegraph, Chelsea have Gittens, Garnacho, who is valued at around £60m, and Lyon’s Malick Fofana on a three-man list of targets for the left winger position.
While there is no guarantee that they will, the same outlet claims that the Conference League winners could sign two names on that shortlist, meaning that there is a chance of both Gittens and Garnacho moving to west London.

Chelsea could also lose another wide man, though, with Noni Madueke being linked to Arsenal.

It is thought that Maresca is a big fan of Madueke but that Chelsea could still sell the England international if a big enough offer for him comes in.
Paul Scholes compares Alejandro Garnacho to a young Cristiano Ronaldo
In the past, Chelsea supporters have shared their doubts about Garnacho, but Manchester United legend Paul Scholes seems to appreciate his talent. He has even compared him to a young Cristiano Ronaldo.

“He was like a young Cristiano, taking the ball down,” Scholes told BT Sport (now TNT Sports) after one game in 2022.
Yet despite the quality he possesses, Ruben Amorim seems to be open to letting the 20-year-old go and will have his reasons.
