Manchester United are determined to upgrade their squad this summer as Ruben Amorim looks to support the club get back to their former winning ways.
It’s been 12 years since the club’s last Premier League title, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the United hierarchy working on Project 150, to see the club win their 21st league title before their 150th anniversary in 2028.
As such, a major rebuild is needed this summer with The Red Devils having registered their worst Premier League results over the last two years.
In a bid to restore the club, United have already signed Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers as a support striker in Amorim’s attacking trio.
Alongside him Manchester United have been working on signing Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford, however the two clubs are yet to complete a deal to see the Cameroon international move to Old Trafford.
United’s initial £55 million offer has been declined, with a secondary bid of over £60 million now being submitted.
Now, Fabrizio Romano has reported that Mbeumo is one of United’s key priorities right now, with the other being to sign a number 9.
The need for a prolific striker comes from a lack of confidence in Rasmus Hojlund who suffered a 21 game goalless streak, with Amorim having to rely on Bruno Fernandes, Alejandro Garnacho and Amad Diallo to also grab goals.
Now, The Red Devils are looking to Hugo Ekitike of Eintracht Frankfurt and Moise Kean of Fiorentina as potential recruits, with Victor Osimhen still teetering on the shortlist despite his high transfer fee.
