Man Utd are set to sign Bryan Mbeumo and it could impact the playing time of another senior star.

Mason Mount has no intention to leave Manchester United in the summer window despite the proposed transfer of Brentford ace Bryan Mbeumo. United have submitted a second bid for the French playmaker, believed to be in the region of £60 million as Ruben Amorim looks to overhaul his attacking options.

United have already completed the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves and hope to add both an attacking midfielder and a striker to their squad this summer. Amorim wants to address the lack of goals in his side after they managed just 44 in the Premier League last season. Cunha and Mbeumo scored a combined 35 between themselves in the English top-flight.

The planned additions are exciting from a United perspective, but they also raise doubts over the future of those already at the club. Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, and Antony are all available for transfer, which means Mbeumo could rival Mount, Kobbie Mainoo, Amad Diallo, Bruno Fernandes and Joshua Zirkzee for a starting role. Despite the fierce competition for places, Mount is reportedly determined to prove his worth at Old Trafford and still believes he could play a key role under Amorim.

Mason Mount has endured an injury-ridden spell at Manchester United and has only made 46 appearances during his two seasons with the club. He missed 23 matches due to two separate injuries last season but still retains the backing of Ruben Amorim, who handed him a start in the Europa League final.

Mount will be given another pre-season to overcome his fitness issues but there is no ignoring the fact he could have limited minutes in the line up next season. Speaking in a recent YouTube video, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano issued an update on the midfielder's future and what is next for him in a United shirt.

"We had some stories about Mason Mount, maybe being involved in some swap-deals this summer," Romano said. "What I can tell you today guys is that we have lots of time to see things evolving, surprises but today the clear intention of Mason Mount is to stay Manchester United.

"Mason Mount is planning to continue at Man United, he is planning to have an important pre-season, feeling well, being fully fit, working under Ruben Amorim, who always had important words for him during his first season, always showing his full confidence in the player. Now it is obviously about being fit, being ready, but the intention of Mason Mount is to stay at Manchester United. I can't predict the future, I don't know what is going to happen in the next months but as of today this is the clear intention of the player.\2
