Arsenal learn Rodrygo transfer asking price after Real Madrid's Alonso comments

Arsenal have reportedly learned what it will cost to sign Rodrygo from Real Madrid this summer. Incomings are a must for Mikel Arteta this summer after missing out on the Premier League title last season. Sporting director Andrea Berta is understood to be working behind the scenes to get deals over the line.

Arsenal are expected to welcome Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad and signing a proven goalscorer is also a priority. Both Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres have been on their radar.

Rodrygo, who is admired by Arteta, is another reported target for the Gunners. The Brazilian's future is up in the air at the Santiago Bernabeu and his services will not come cheap.

In a recent update, Spanish publication Cadena SER has reported that it would take €90million (£77m) to sign Rodrygo. Although Real Madrid are aware of Arsenal's interest, it's said that the player 'wants to explore more options' and knows that Manchester City have 'always been there.'

It's also noted that Rodrygo has fallen down the pecking order under Xabi Alonso, with the report describing him as the 'weakest link' in attack. The winger is behind Kylian Mbappe, Gonzalo, Brahim Diaz.

Rodrygo was also named an unused substitute in Real's 3-1 win over Pachuca on Sunday. Speaking about the Brazil star after the game, Alonso said: "I know the end of the season was not easy for him, but it took a lot of time for him to reset.

"He wasn't with the national team either. From the first moment we talk, I see he has desire.

"He is a player with enormous quality, we have shared things and it is time to put them into practice."

There has been an ongoing debate as to how Arsenal could fund a move for Rodrygo and one avenue to explore would be by cashing in on Gabriel Martinelli.

The Gunners star has recently been linked with a move to Bayern Munich as Vincent Kompany looks to bolster his options.

If Bayern come in for Martinelli, The Athletic have claimed that Arsenal would want at least £50m to part ways with him.

Although the Brazilian has just two years remaining on his contract, the Gunners reportedly hold an option to extend it by a further 12 months.
