Phillips superb time at Anfield also had him on loan to Stuttgart, AFC Bournemouth, Celtic, Cardiff City and Derby County. Almost always there has been an offer for him to leave permanently.

Phillips was last seen in a Reds’ jersey in an FA Cup tie at Wolves in January 2023. He played in pre season under Arne Slot. That includes playing and captaining the team in friendly wins against Arsenal and Manchester United.

Phillips leaves Anfield with 29 appearances to his name. He exits with a reputation for a reliable and committed defender. West Brom fans will be hoping that passion and experience follows him to the Hawthorns.
