Leeds United star shares message amidst exit talks – European clubs have heavy interest

There seems to be an emphasis to improve the Leeds United attack this summer. And the club moved quickly to address the issue with the arrival of Lukas Nmecha.

The German forward brings physicality up top, as well as some major experience having played in a top European league. Leeds will reportedly have a key role for him, which will rely on his versatility. Graham Smyth recently revealed that the club will add another center forward to the squad.

With the potential of two attacking additions in the squad, the future of some players will be under pressure. That includes Patrick Bamford and Mateo Joseph, who were the backups to Joel Piroe last season.

Joseph has attracted interest from the likes of Real Betis and Strasbourg. The forward is expected to hold talks over his future soon, after Spain were knocked out of the U21 Euros.

The 21-year old shared this message after the defeat to England in the tournament:

“A very special stage for me closes. It wasn’t the ending we wanted, but I’ll stick with everything we’ve experienced in this European and everything it means to have been part of this group.

“Thank you to my teammates, staff and everyone who has been supporting since day 1. Wearing this shirt has been an enormous pride and an opportunity I will never forget!

“I learned so much in every rally, in every match, in every good and not-so-good moment. Now it’s time to keep working and growing. Always with the same excitement and desire to keep improving. Thank you @sefutbol.”

Should Mateo Joseph leave the club?

This past season, Joseph played 1,285 minutes – the lowest mark among players that featured in over 20 league games. And he averaged 0.42 goals and assists per 90. That ranked the forward seventh in the squad, higher than Brenden Aaronson.

Two new additions probably means Mateo Joseph departs, but Leeds would be making a huge mistake doing that. Daniel Farke must trust the 21-year old next season.
