Liverpool starlet and QPR goalkeeper join Tns ahead of European adventure

Midfielder Dominic Corness has joined the JD Cymru Premier champions from English Premier League champions Liverpool while Wales U21 international goalkeeper Nathan Shepperd has arrived at Park Hall from English Championship club QPR.

Corness made his Liverpool debut against Lyon in December 2022 before loans to Yverdon-Sport in the Swiss Super League and Gillingham in the English Football League.

Corness also represented England at U20s level and represented Liverpool's U21s side.

Corness said: "I’m absolutely delighted to have signed for The New Saints. It’s a fantastic club with a great history of success, and I’m really proud to be joining.

“From the moment I heard about the opportunity, I knew it was the right move for me. I can’t wait to meet the lads, get started with training, and do everything I can to help the team achieve its goals this season.”

Sheppard is a graduate of the Swansea City Academy and has also represented Brentford, Wycombe Wanderers and Dundalk in the League of Ireland.

Sheppard said: “I’m really excited to be joining The New Saints at such an important time for the club.

“It’s a great opportunity for me to be part of a team with big ambitions, both domestically and in Europe. From everything I’ve seen and heard, it’s a club with a strong culture and a clear vision, and I’m looking forward to getting started and contributing to what we’re building here at Park Hall.”

Head coach Craig Harrison said: “Dom is a fantastic talent and a very accomplished footballer. He’s technically sound, has an excellent touch and balance, and he’s confident playing forward passes—exactly the kind of profile we look for.

“This is a brilliant signing for us. Dom had the option to stay at Liverpool, so we’re absolutely delighted to have brought him in.”

“Nathan brings a well-rounded profile to the squad. He’s developed through a strong academy system at Swansea City and gained valuable senior experience during his time at Queens Park Rangers and his loan spell with Dundalk.

“He fits our playing style perfectly, and in many ways, he ticks all the boxes we’re looking for.

“We did consider signing a more senior goalkeeper from Championship or even Premier League clubs, but ultimately, we believe Nathan’s blend of pedigree, potential, and experience will serve him, and us, very well.”
